VERRA responds to criticism of Rainforest Offset Credits with its own analysis

A recent Guardian article has caused a stir in the carbon market, suggesting that most voluntary credits for rainforests are “worthless”, finding that most are phantom credits and may exacerbate global warming.  It has led many to question the reliability of credits more broadly. VERRA has pushed back in an online statement pointing to the findings of a technical analysis of its credits, stating that the Guardian article contains inaccuracies and distortions that misrepresent the activities of VERRA.
