At the seventh quadrennial assembly of the 184 members of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) delegates formally approved the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund, to be managed within the existing GEF. The fund is designed to rapidly and efficiently receive and disburse funding. It is meant to have enhanced access for indigenous peoples and local communities, according to their own priorities.
