EU Parliament agrees to delay anti-deforestation law

In December the EU agreed to a one year delay of its anti-deforestation regulation, It will now enter force on 30 December 2025. It has been suggested that this is because of the assumption of power of a new more right leaning majority in the EU Parliament, that is opposed to the EU Green Deal. The law requires traders of certain products like wood, cocoa, rubber as well as derived products, to provide proof their supply chain does not contribute to deforestation, or face fines and potentially have their products turned away.
