The European Commission has confirmed it will not reopen the core legal text of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) despite significant pressure from industry groups to weaken or delay it, particularly from the Trump administration. However, it has proposed excluding leather and retreaded tyres from its scope and various proposed administrative simplifications. NGOs and various companies urged the Commission not to reopen the text, warning that further changes would undermine business certainty and weaken the environmental impact of the regulation
