Turkiye focuses on waste emissions in COP31 Action Agenda

According to Climate Home News, ‘Zero Waste’ is the personal project of Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdogan. The project aims to cut emissions from landfills and waste disposal, and the government has chosen emissions from waste as its top priority for the Action Agenda. The Action Agenda is a separate parallel process to the UNFCCC negotiations and aims to foster and mobilise real world climate action across all stakeholders. While COP31 talks will be presided over by Australia which holds exclusive authority over the formal, intergovernmental negotiations, the Action Agenda will be jointly managed by both Australia and Türkiye.
