Nigeria has announced a $2 billion National Climate Change Fund at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit. Alongside the Fund, President Bola Tinubu also announced Nigeria’s Climate Investment Platform, which aims to mobilise $500 million for climate-resilient infrastructure. The Fund and Investment Platform build on past initiatives such as the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority’s Distributed Renewable Energy Fund. The country’s green bond programme has drawn strong investor interest, with a 50 billion naira ($38 million) sovereign green bond issued in 2025 that attracted 91 billion naira in subscriptions. Nigeria and the UAE have also signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), aimed at boosting trade and investment across different sectors including renewable energy, aviation, agriculture and climate-smart infrastructure.
