EU Agrees to 90% by 2040 emission reduction target

The European Union has agreed to a legally binding climate target to cut emissions by 90% by 2040. The agreement came as a result of an amendment of the EU Climate Law by the European Parliament and EU Member States. The deal includes a one-year delay to the EU’s Emissions trading system for buildings, road transport as well as small industries and the use of carbon credits to reach reductions targets.
