EU Finalises tight CBAM Rules

According to Carbon Pulse, EU member states have approved the long-awaited rules governing the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism’s (CBAM) operations. The CBAM is due to take effect in 2026, and these new rules will adopt a more stringent framework, raising the cost exposure for importers across steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, and hydrogen. Companies that comply with the CBAM will have to undergo a physical check and closely follow the verification rules.
