Rwandan NDC aims to halve emissions by 2035

Rwanda released its NDC 3.0 in November, with a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 53% by 2035 compared to business-as-usual (BAU) in its latest climate plan. This latest NDC also includes emissions and removals from Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) for the first time, and aims to accelerate the country’s transition to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). It sets a target to rehabilitate over one million hectares of degraded land by 2030, improve the adoption of climate-resilient seed varieties, and transform informal settlements and vulnerable neighbourhoods into climate-resilient communities.
