Portugal and Cabo Verde agree on a Debt for Climate and Nature Swap

Portugal has signed an agreement with Cabo Verde to exchange its debts for investments in the Cape Verdean fund for climate and energy transition. that is being established by the archipelago nation. Cabo Verde owes Portugal around 600 million euros. It provides that on each occasion that a part of the debt is paid, the amount will be reinvested in the country in its entirety. This investment could reach 12 million euros by 2025.
