COP27 was replete with launches of initiatives that were Africa focused. They include the African Manifesto for Sustainable Cities, the Africa Sustainable Commodities Initiative Declaration, the African Climate Risk Facility, the African Cities Water Adaptation Fund, the African Carbon Market Initiative, the Action Plan of the African Food Systems Transformation Initiative, and the GFANZ Africa Network and Advisory Board. Other relevant global initiatives include the Mangrove Breakthrough, the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions new ‘Assets to Flows’ primer, and the Sharm El Sheikh Adaptation Agenda.
