The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has come under pressure by North American delegates. The EUDR prevents the import of chocolate, coffee, and timber into the bloc, prohibiting products from land deforested after 2020, with related due diligence requirements for exporters. At a US-EUDR lobby tour earlier in March, the US pressured the EU to make changes to the law to accommodate their interests. However, some businesses and NGOs have urged the European Commission to not reopen the Regulation after it finishes its review in April. The group includes Danone, Nestle, Rainforest Alliance, and Ferrero, who shared their concerns in an open letter arguing that reopening the EUDR would jeopardise their investments in supply chain traceability.
