India assume Presidency of BRICS

India has officially assumed the chairmanship of BRICS, taking over from Brazil. This marks the first time that India will lead the expanded bloc, which now includes 10 countries. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined the country’s priorities for its presidency at the 2025 BRICS Summit: “Our goal will be to redefine BRICS as Building Resilience and Innovation for Cooperation and Sustainability.” India will host the 18th BRICS Summit in 2026.
