The IMF recommends a ‘modest’ carbon price for the Gambia

In a recent technical assistance report, the International Monetary Fund reviewed the Gambia’s current fiscal policies supporting climate action, and made several recommendations to support the long-term climate resilience of the country’s economy. One of these recommendations is the implementation of carbon pricing, with the IMF recommending a gradual increase in the carbon price, emphasising that carbon pricing be used to encourage climate-friendly practices and build resilience.
