At the 10th African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) special meeting , Environmental Ministers from the continent agreed to establish a secretariat for the African Group of Negotiators (AGN), following agreement on the topic between the Africa Union Commission, AMCEN and the Committee of Heads of State and Governments on Climate Change (CAHOSCC). To date the AGN has operated informally without one. It is intended that this secretariat will collaborate with the AMCEN and CAHOSCC Secretariats. The current AGN Chair (Kenya) is tasked with progressing this development.
